The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
