The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
