The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
