The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
