The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He verily will be content. 21
