The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
