The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 He verily will be content. 21

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
