The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And accepts the best, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
