The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
