And recall what time thou settedst forth from thy household early to settle believers in positions for the fight. And Allah is Hearing, Knowing. 121 When two groups among you almost decided to show cowardice – and Allah is their Protector; and in Allah only should the believers trust. 122 for, indeed, God did succour you at Badr, when you were utterly weak. Remain, then, conscious of God, so that you might have cause to be grateful. 123 And Recall what time thou saidst to the believers: sufficieth it not unto you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down. 124 Indeed if you are patient and take heed for yourselves, and the (enemy) come rushing at you suddenly your Lord will send even five thousand angels on chargers sweeping down." 125 And God did not do so but as good tidings for you, and to reassure your hearts for victory comes from God alone, the all-mighty and all-wise -- 126 In order that He may cut off a part of unbelievers or overthrow them, and they turn back in frustration. 127 No part of the matter is thine, whether He turns towards them again, or chastises them; for they are evildoers. 128 Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belong to God. He forgives whoever He pleases and punishes whoever He pleases. God is most forgiving and ever merciful. 129
