The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
