The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
