The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
