The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
