The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
