The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
