The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
