The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
