The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
