The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
