The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
