In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
