The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to every slanderer and backbiter. 1 who has gathered riches and counted them over 2 He thinks that his wealth will immortalise him forever. 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 Would that you understood what that crushing torment is like. 5 (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), 6 Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). 7 Lo! it is closed in on them 8 in towering columns. 9
True are the words of God the Almighty.
