O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer, wash you faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace upon you, that ye may give thanks. 6 And remember Allah's favour on you and His bond wherewith He bound you firmly when ye said: we hearken and we obey. And fear Allah: verily Allah is Knower of that which is in the breasts. 7 Believers! Be upright bearers of witness for Allah, and do not let the enmity of any people move you to deviate from justice. Act justly, that is nearer to God-fearing. And fear Allah. Surely Allah is well aware of what you do. 8 To those who believe and do deeds of righteousness hath Allah promised forgiveness and a great reward. 9 As for those who disbelieve and give the lie to Our signs, they are destined for the Blazing Flame. 10 O ye who believe! remember Allah's favour on you when a people determined to stretch forth their hands against you, but He withheld their hands from you. And fear Allah, and in Allah let the believers trust. 11
