Animals (Al-An 'aam)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
All praise unto Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darknesses and the light, yet those who disbelieve equalise others with their Lord. 1 It is He who has created you from clay. He has decreed a term for you and another one set with Him. Yet you are still in doubt. 2 although He is God in the heavens and on earth, knowing all that you keep secret as well as all that you do openly, and knowing what you deserve. 3 Yet no sign of their Lord comes to them but they turn away from it. 4 And they denied the truth when it came unto them. But there will come unto them the tidings of that which they used to deride. 5 Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [rain from] the sky upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth after them a generation of others. 6 (O Messenger!) Had We sent down to you a book incribed on parchment, and had they even touched it with their own hands, the unbelievers would still have said: 'This is nothing but plain magic.' 7 They say: "How is it no angel was sent down to him?" Had We sent an angel down the matter would have come to end, and they would have had no respite. 8 And if We had made him angel, We would certainly have made him a man, and We would certainly have made confused to them what they make confused. 9 Messengers indeed were mocked at before thee; but those that scoffed at them were encompassed by that they mocked at. 10

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
