A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 How many towns We have destroyed. Our scourge fell upon them by night or at midday when they were resting: 4 And when Our punishment overtook them they had nothing to say except crying out: "We have indeed been sinners." 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
