And indeed We created you, then designed you and then ordered the angels, “Prostrate before Adam”; so they all prostrated, except Iblis (Satan); he did not become of those who prostrate. 11 Said He, 'What prevented thee to bow thyself, when I commanded thee?' Said he, 'I am better than he; Thou createdst me of fire, and him Thou createdst of clay.' 12 God said, "Get down from here! This is no place for your arrogance. Get out! You are contemptible!" 13 [Satan] said, "Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 14 Said Allah, “You are given respite.” 15 [Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path. 16 “Then I will certainly approach them – from their front and from behind them and from their right and from their left; and You will find most of them not thankful.” 17 'Begone' said He, 'despised and outcast. (As for) those of them that follow you, I shall fill Gehenna (Hell) with all of you' 18 To Adam He said, "You and your wife, dwell in the Garden and eat and drink there from wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, lest you become wrongdoers." 19 Thereupon Satan whispered unto the two with a view to making them conscious of their nakedness, of which [hitherto] they had been unaware; and he said: "Your Sustainer has but forbidden you this tree lest you two become [as] angels, or lest you live forever." 20 And he swore to them both: Most surely I am a sincere adviser to you. 21 So he brought them down with deception; and when they tasted from that tree, their shame became manifest to them and they began attaching the leaves of Paradise on themselves; and their Lord said to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree, and tell you that Satan is an open enemy to you?” 22 They replied, "Our Lord, we have wronged our souls: if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall be among the lost." 23 Said He, 'Get you down, each of you an enemy to each. In the earth a sojourn shall be yours, and enjoyment for a time.' 24 there shall you live" - He added - "and there shall you die, and thence shall you be brought forth [on Resurrection Day]! 25
