And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. 73 "And remember how He made you heirs to [the tribe of] 'Ad and settled you firmly on earth, so that you [are able to] build for yourselves castles on its plains and hew out mountains [to serve you] as dwellings: remember, then, God's blessings, and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption." 74 The proud ones among Salih's people asked his oppressed followers, "Do you (really) know that Salih is a Messenger of his Lord?" They replied, "We have faith in the Message which he preaches". 75 Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in." 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." 77 So the earthquake seized them, and morning found them in their habitation fallen prostrate. 78 Saleh turned away from them and said: "O my people, I conveyed to you the message of my Lord and warned you; but you do not like those who wish you well." 79 And Lot, who said to his nation: 'Do you commit such indecency (sodomy) in a way that no one has preceded you in the worlds? 80 Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people." 81 The only answer of his nation was: 'Expel them from your village. They are people who keep themselves purified' 82 So We saved him and his family -- except for his wife. She was one of those who stayed behind. 83 We sent a torrential rain unto the (unbelievers). Consider how disastrous the end of the criminals was! 84
