The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra; these are verses of the Book and the bright Qur’an. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 And indeed We sent Noble Messengers before you, to the former nations. 10 But never once an apostle came to them at whom they did not scoff. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed. 13 And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, 14 They would surely say: intoxicated have been our sights; aye! we are a people enchanted. 15

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
