We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
