AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
