At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
