When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
