So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
