And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
