And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
