At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
