And when We said unto the angels: Fall down prostrate before Adam and they fell prostrate all save Iblis, he said: Shall I fall prostrate before that which Thou hast created of clay? 61 [Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy his descendants, except for a few." 62 God said, "Go away. All those who follow you will have hell as ample recompense for their deeds. 63 And unsettle thou whomsoever of them thou canst with thy voice, and summon against them thine horse and thine foot, and share with them riches and children, and promise unto them; and the Satan promiseth not but to delude. 64 'Surely over My servants thou shalt have no authority.' Thy Lord suffices as a guardian. 65 Your Lord is He Who speeds the ships for you in the sea that you may seek of His grace; surely He is ever Merciful to you. 66 And when affliction visits you upon the sea, then there go astray those on whom you call except Him; and when He delivers you to land, you turn away; man is ever unthankful. 67 Do you feel secure that He will not cause the shore to swallow you, or let loose a squall of pebbles upon you? Then you shall find no guardian for yourself. 68 Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into the sea another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for what you denied? Then you would not find for yourselves against Us an avenger. 69 ۞ Indeed We have honoured the Descendants of Adam and transported them over land and sea, and gave them good things as sustenance, and made them better than most of Our creation. 70
