They ask you about revelation. Say, revelation is by the command of your Lord, and that you have been given but little knowledge. 85 If We pleased We could take away that which We have revealed to you then you should find none to guard you against Us, 86 Unless your Lord have mercy. His blessings on you are great indeed. 87 Say: 'If men and jinn banded together to produce the like of this Koran, they would never produce its like, not though they backed one another.' 88 And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! 89 and so they say: "[O Muhammad,] we shall not believe thee till thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth, 90 or, until you own a garden of palms and vines and cause rivers to gush forth with abundant water in them; 91 or you cause the heavens to fall down on us in pieces, as you have claimed; or you bring God and the angels before us face to face; 92 Or you should have a house of gold, or you should ascend into heaven, and we will not believe in your ascending until you bring down to us a book which we may read. Say: Glory be to my Lord; am I aught but a mortal apostle? 93
