The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and the sea that is full 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
