The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Praise be to God. He has sent the Book to His servant and has made it a flawless guide (for human beings) 1 (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, 2 wherein they will remain [in a state of bliss] forever. 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Do you think that the Men of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried! 12
