Recall when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam"; all prostrated themselves save Iblis. He refused. 116 Therefor we said: O Adam! This is an enemy unto thee and unto thy wife, so let him not drive you both out of the Garden so that thou come to toil. 117 It is assuredly given to thee neither to hunger therein, nor to go naked, 118 nor face thirst or scorching heat." 119 Then Satan whispered to him saying, 'Adam, shall I point thee to the Tree of Eternity, and a Kingdom that decays not?' 120 Then the two of them ate the fruit of that tree and their shameful parts became revealed to each other, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves from the Garden. Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord and strayed into error. 121 His Lord forgave him, accepted his repentance, and gave him guidance. 122 [Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]. 123 But as for him who shall turn away from remembering Me - his shall be a life of narrow scope and on the Day of Resurrection We shall raise him up blind." 124 He shall say: My Lord! why hast Thou raised me blind and I was a seeing one indeed? 125 He will say: "Even so it is. Our Signs came to you and you ignored them. So shall you be ignored this Day." 126 Thus We recompense those who are unjust and have no faith in Our revelations. The torment in the life to come will be more severe and last longer. 127 Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 128
