When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused. 116 So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer. 117 Verily, you have (a promise from Us) that you will never be hungry therein nor naked. 118 "Nor to suffer from thirst, nor from the sun's heat." 119 But Satan seduced him, saying: "Adam! Shall I direct you to a tree of eternal life and an abiding kingdom?" 120 And both ate of (its fruit), and their hidden parts were exposed to one another, and they patched the leaves of the garden (to hide them). Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went astray. 121 But his Lord chose him (for His Grace): He turned to him, and gave him Guidance. 122 He said: get ye twain down therefrom together: some of you an enemy unto some others; then if there cometh unto you from Me guidance, whosoever followeth My guidance shall neither go astray nor be distressed. 123 And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." 124 He will say, “O my Lord, why have You raised me blind, whereas I was sighted?” 125 (God) will say: "Because Our signs came to you, but you disregarded them. So shall We disregard you this day." 126 And thus do We recompense him who is extravagant and does not believe in the communications of his Lord, and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is severer and more lasting 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them, amid whose dwellings they walk? Lo! therein verily are signs for men of thought. 128
