The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. 8 Then We were true to the promise, We saved them together with those whom We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
