Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? 30 We set firm mountains upon the earth lest it should sway under them, and We placed therein passages for paths so that they might find their way. 31 And We have made the heavens as a canopy well guarded: yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things (point to)! 32 It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each gliding in its orbit. 33 And before you, We did not appoint on earth a never-ending life for any human; will they, if you depart, become immortal? 34 Every human being is bound to taste death; and We test you [all] through the bad and the good [things of life] by way of trial: and unto Us you all must return. 35 And when those who disbelieve behold thee they only take thee up for mockery: is this he who mentioneth your gods? while in the mention of the compassionate they are themselves blasphemers. 36 Man has been created hasty; very soon I shall show you My signs, do not be impatient. 37 They ask, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if what you say be true?" 38 If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided... 39 Nay, but it will come upon them unawares so that it will stupefy them, and they will be unable to repel it, neither will they be reprieved. 40 Messengers before thee, indeed, were mocked, but that whereat they mocked surrounded those who scoffed at them. 41
