Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? 30 And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided. 31 And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc.). 32 And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming. 33 (O Muhammad), We did not grant everlasting life to any human being even before you. If you were to die, will they live for ever? 34 Every soul shall taste of death; and We try you with evil and good for a testing, then unto Us you shall be returned. 35 And when those who disbelieve see you, they do not take you but for one to be scoffed at: Is this he who speaks of your gods? And they are deniers at the mention of the Beneficent Allah. 36 Man is made of haste. I shall show you My portents, but ask Me not to hasten. 37 And they say: when cometh this torment if ye are truth-tellers! 38 If the unbelievers only knew when they will be unable to shield either their faces or their backs from the Fire; when they will not be helped! 39 Aye! it would come upon them on a sudden and shall dumbfound them; they shall not be able to avert it, nor shall they be respited. 40 Other Messengers before you were also mocked, but those who scoffed at the Messengers were overtaken by the same scourge that they had scoffed at. 41
