۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship instead of God! Will you not, then, use your reason?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 We bestowed Isaac and then Jacob on him as an additional boon and We made all of them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
