Or do they in whose hearts is disease think, perchance, that God would never bring their moral failings to light? 29 Had We so wiled, We could have shown them up to thee, and thou shouldst have known them by their marks: but surely thou wilt know them by the tone of their speech! And Allah knows all that ye do. 30 And of a surety We shall prove you all until We know the strivers among you and the steadfast, and We shall prove your states. 31 Verily those who have disbelieved and have hindered others from the way of Allah and have opposed the apostle after the guidance had become manifest unto them, shall not hurt Allah at all, and anon He shall render their works of non effect. 32 O People who Believe! Obey Allah and obey the Noble Messenger, and do not render your deeds void. 33 ۞ surely those who reject the truth and bar others from the path of God, then die as deniers of the truth, will not be granted forgiveness by God. 34 And be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand, and Allah is with you, and He will not bring your deeds to naught. 35 The life of the world is but a sport and a pastime. And if ye believe and fear, He will give you your hire, and will not require of you your substance. 36 If He were to ask you for all of them, and press you, ye would covetously withhold, and He would bring out all your ill-feeling. 37 Ha, there you are; you are called upon to expend in God's way, and some of you are niggardly. Whoso is niggardly is niggardly only to his own soul. God is the All-sufficient; you are the needy ones. If you turn away, He will substitute another people instead of you, then they will not be your likes. 38
