۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
