The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel to try them. So watch them, and be constant. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 Eventually, they summoned their companion, and he undertook the (outrageous) task and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
